Facilitating stakeholders for more equitable transitions
This story is about India’s renewable energy transition, focusing on the practices of engaging diverse actors, facilitating processes across difference, and holding space for inquiry and multiple perspectives to work towards just and responsible energy futures.
It follows the Responsible Energy Initiative (REI) India as it evolves from a three-partner initiative to a multi-year collaborative programme convened by a consortium of eight partner organisations, including Forum for the Future, the programme host internationally. Together, the consortium works with more than 50 of India’s renewable energy (RE) stakeholders to shape business models and value chains that respect land, labour and human rights; protect and restore ecological systems; embed participatory governance; and build inclusive, resilient communities and workforces.
The story wrestles with the realities of how a sector understands its responsibility and the paradigm shifts needed to ensure a just energy transition.
